What are the school hours?
Drop Off 8:15-8:30AM
School Day 8:30 - 3:45PM
Does Legacy have before and after school care?
Before school care starts at 7:30AM.
After school care runs from 3:45PM to 5:45PM.
How many students are enrolled at Legacy?
During the 2022/23 school year, we have 87 students enrolled K-6. In our preschool, we have 109 students.
How many students are in each class?
In Kindergarten, our maximum class size is 16 students. For first grade and up, our maximum class size is 18 students.
Is Legacy Academy accredited?
Legacy Academy is a member of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS) and a member of the Classical Latin School Association. Legacy will seek accreditation through the ACCS when we are eligible to apply. The ACCS limits accreditation to K-12 school districts or K-10 schools with a plan for the completion of 12th grade.
Is Legacy associated with a particular church or denomination?
Legacy was formed under the direction of the First Baptist Church of Branson. However, Legacy is a non-denominational Christian school. At this time our families attend 13 different churches throughout the Branson community.
Do you have to be a Christian to attend Legacy?
Legacy operates on the covenant-model of Christian school admission, meaning that at least one parent of each family is an active, professing Christian, involved in a local church. Partnership with parents is central to Legacy’s mission statement, providing students with a consistent commitment to the truth of Scripture whether they are at home or at school.
Do you have to attend a church to enroll at Legacy?
Scripture instructs believers to be in regular fellowship with other believers (Hebrews 10:25).
At what age can a child begin attending Legacy Academy?
Students must be 5 years old by July 31st to be eligible for Kindergarten.
Does Legacy offer tuition assistance?
Legacy offers limited financial aid. Financial assistance applications are submitted through our Financial Aid Assessment.
Do you have chapel?
Legacy students currently attend chapel twice a month.
I am interested in enrolling a student who has never studied Latin. How do you help prepare students to join their grade in Latin?
Legacy starts Latin in the second grade. Parents can purchase an independent program of study through Memoria Press which can be completed during the summer to help prepare transfer students. Dependent on time of enrollment and availability, some of our teaching staff also offer tutoring at an additional cost.
What high school sports and extra-curricular activities will Legacy offer?
Legacy will have a high school athletics program. The specific programs which will be offered is undecided at this time, but will likely include volleyball, basketball, cross-country, and track and field. Currently we offer volleyball to grades third through sixth and basketball for boys and girls grades third through sixth.
Do Legacy students wear uniforms?
Yes, we have a uniform policy and all uniforms are purchased through Lands End.
Does Legacy offer Physical Education, Music, and Art?
Yes, beginning in kindergarten, our students have "specials" once a week.
What is Legacy’s technology use policy?
Legacy is a low-tech school by design. The effective implementation of comprehensive classical curriculum does not require the use of technology. Additionally, there are significant concerns related to the overuse of technology by children. Thus, Legacy will only use technology for a clearly designed purpose and for a set amount of time, which will be primarily fo typing papers in upper grades.
